Persona 5 Safe Mode Vs Easy Mode

Here is a list of our beginner's tips, and a brief overview of changes made you can expect from Persona 5, in Persona 5 Strikers (or Persona 5 Scramble). This covers in-game exploration, beginner Persona advice, tips for where to put your Bond Skill Points, or how to spend your hard-earned money, and more in the game, including a general rundown, for new and returning players, of what you can expect:

Talk to Your Friends Frequently

When investigating out in Shibuya for leads, or if you're just taking a stroll around the block in your free time, be sure to talk to your companions on the map when possible. Sometimes they'll even give you free items!

The Typical Grind

In Persona 5 Strikers, there's a lot of going into a Jail (known as "Palaces" in Persona 5), leaving to heal, and jumping back into the Jail with some dialogue in-between. Persona 5 fans may be disappointed to know that there isn't much in terms of sidequests or other additional content and time management.

The Combat System

This new combat system in Persona 5 Strikers isn't turn-based like Persona 5. Instead, battle mechanics in Persona 5 Strikers revolve around action akin to other action RPG games. The player can also interact with objects in the environment to unlock new ways to thin out enemies.

You can take up to 4 characters into battle at a time, and as you progress through the game, you will learn how to quickly swap between the characters in your party to gain advantages over the enemy.

This is sometimes known as a Baton Pass, or a 1 More command in combat. Foes with larger down gauges won't be knocked down right away. Instead, you'll have to whittle down shields. Break an enemy's shield icon (by performing all-out-attacks and hitting their weakness) to create an opening, then press A during the 1 More prompt to attack again.

Learn to Switch Targets

A boss enemy will typically summon reinforcements when their health drops below a certain percentage. The reinforcements are made up of regular shadows, and while not all of them are threatening, they make up for it in numbers. Focus on taking them out, healer and support shadows first, to quickly reduce their numbers so you can focus on the main boss.

Exploiting Enemy Weaknesses

A key tactic in battle is knowing the attributes that your enemies are weak against, for example, in the first Jail, there are many enemies that are weak against Zia (Thunder). Knowing an enemy's weakness can greatly turn the tides of an otherwise bleak battle.

Exploiting weaknesses is even more important during boss battles, as constantly hitting foes with the attribute they are weak against can cause them to enter a downed state ("stagger") for a brief period. You can use this opportunity to stack even more damage on the boss before it can retaliate.

Use Your Surroundings To Your Advantage

Additionally, there are several new mechanics to use in battle that may give you the upper-hand, for example, jumping down on your enemies from a light fixture can sometimes stagger an entire group of enemies. Always take note and use your surroundings to your advantage.

Typically, you'll want to ambush your enemies, either by hiding behind obstacles or dropping down on them from above. As an enemy Shadow approaches, you will see an Ambush prompt on your screen---by executing an ambush successfully, you can begin the fight with an all-out--attack, greatly reducing the enemy's health and numbers quickly.

Confidants and Social Links

Confidants and Social Links are not present in the Persona 5 Strikers world (something Persona 5 players will remember fondly); instead, you can level up "Bond Skills" as the game progresses, which allows you to unlock goodies such as extra damage, health, SP, etc.

Bond Skill Points are obtained naturally by progressing through the story and by defeating enemies in Jails. You can read a description of all Bond Skills before permanently unlocking them with points; carefully plan which Bond Skills you will unlock as the Bond Skill Points spent acquiring them cannot be reallocated. We highly recommend picking up the Smart Shopper Bond Skill early-on to save on funds when stocking up on healing items at Sophia's Shop.

Obtaining Personas

Think of Personas as unique monsters with skills that you can use in battle. You can obtain new Personas the traditional way (through The Velvet Room), or monsters will sometimes drop Persona Masks in combat.

Initially, Joker can hold up to 8 Persona at a time. You should frequently update your Persona Registrar with your strongest Persona, and if you've ran out of room for new Persona, open the main menu and go to the Persona tab, and select which Persona you'd like to remove from your party. If you've registered this Persona in The Velvet Room, you can purchase it and add it to your party later for a small fee.

Recommended Early-Game Persona

When exploring the first Jail, keep on the lookout for the Personas Mokoi and Pixie.

Mokoi and Pixie are encountered very early in the game and have access to some useful abilities. Pixie, for instance, can use Dia to heal allies in battle. Mokoi, meanwhile, has access to Tarukaja---a spell that increases the attack power of one character in the party.

Persona Inherit Skills

During Persona Fusion, it is possible to pass on a number of skills to a newly created Persona. Be aware that depending on the Persona, some skills cannot be inherited.

Safety Mode is Now Easy Mode

The easiest difficulty, Safety, does not return in Persona 5 Strikers. By default, the player has access to three levels of difficulty namely: Easy, Normal, and Hard. After completing the game for the first time, the player unlocks the hardest difficulty known as Merciless.

Treasure and Loot Respawns

Unlike Persona 5, by leaving and re-entering a jail, treasure (loot) will respawn on the map. This does not apply to treasure chests. So if you're low on cash, it's immeasurably beneficial to run around the Jail and grab some loot boxes, leave the Jail, and pop back in for more.

No Alternate Story Routes

The ending in Persona 5 Strikers will always be the same. There are no alternate endings.

Cooking and SP Recovery

Purchase cooking ingredients whenever possible, especially for dishes that restore SP. Also, it's worth exploring the different shops in the city, as you can discover new recipes to cook.

You can't control how much SP your party members will use in combat, so chances are you will find yourself running out of SP often when exploring Jails, so it's recommended to stock up on SP Recovery items whenever possible. You can also use a checkpoint to exit a Jail and re-enter for an instant full-party heal-up!

In-game Tutorial

The upper-right corner of the screen displays your current objective, as well as a hint to help you complete that objective. It's also worth noting that by speaking to your party members, they will also hint at what you should be doing to reach the next objective in the game.

This game has a lot of information to take in all at once, so if you find yourself totally lost or with questions, there is an in-depth Tutorial section in the System menu.
